The trust is named after the Late Adhir Chandra Bhadra, a distinguished railway engineer. He played a pivotal role in introducing modern, machine-driven railway track maintenance in the North Eastern Frontier Railway zone. The trust has been established partly on his property. To honor his contributions, a fellowship will be instituted to support research in railway and basic science.
